December Daily Days 2, 3, and 4

Hi everyone! Today I have a few pages in my December Daily to share. Let’s start with Day 2.

On this day I had taken several photos and done various things. I worked on this album, watched Brave for the first time, and went shopping in the evening with my mom. I decided the best way to use these photos was to use a grid page. Because I wanted to journal about everything I did this day, I used one of the cut-aparts from Crate Paper and added my journaling on the back.

As for my supplies, I used a variety of Crate Paper papers from Falala, Carousel, and even going all the way back to Bloom. I embellished with bits from Felicity Jane (the Sparkle chipboard), Feed Your Craft (the snowman die-cut), and the Target Dollar Spot (the little stars).

For day 3 I did a double page spread. This day I decorated the tree so I had a lot of photos again. I really didn’t journal at all, except for adding the “tree decorating” title, because I feel like the photos speak for themselves.

This page again used Crate Paper papers (they’re just the best!) and I embellished with Feed Your Craft puffy stickers and a mini flair button.

I took an Instax photo of the tree (which is terrible by the way, my film is old) and I decided to make it into its own little layout. This one has very similar supplies again: Crate Paper papers and Feed Your Craft die-cuts.

For Day 4 I used the back side of the layout from the 3rd. I documented a haircut, and commented on how every time I cut my hair there is so little difference that no one can ever tell its been cut.

I used my absolute favorite Thickers from Amy Tangerine and my favorite tiny alphas from Tim Holtz.

Finally I embellished with a few Crate Paper stickers.

And that’s it! How is December memory keeping going for you?

Dressed in Holiday Style

Hey everyone! Hope the holiday season is treating you well so far! Today I’ve got a look to show you, that’s perfect for the office or a holiday party. Here we go!

This outfit includes one of my favorite ways to style clothes: pattern mixing, or in this case, pattern matching. Its hard to tell in the photo but the pants have a subtle tone on tone polka dot on them as well. And these pants are so comfy! They are the Pixie pants from Old Navy (which is a style I absolutely LOVE) and for some reason the fabric of these are even more comfortable than the other pairs I own. This is a look I would wear to the office or to a work holiday party. In fact, I did wear it to work! Its dressed up with still having the casual comfort of pants and a cozy sweater. I even threw on my favorite pair of Christmas earrings that I got a few years ago from Kohl’s. You can see them in the pic below.

Outfit details: Polka Dot Tank Top – Target, Cardigan- Target, Pants- Old Navy (these are navy but very similar), Shoes – Old Navy (old) similar

What’s your favorite style for the holidays? Thanks for reading!!

October 2017 – The First Week

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

Hey everyone and happy October (its halfway through the month but whatever). I started collecting photos from the first part of this month and realized I could make a true “weekly” spread for the first week of the month, as typically I just focus on keeping each month together and not really doing the traditional weekly Project Life spreads. This spread documents the last St. Louis Cardinals game of the season, some everyday things, and, of course, October 3rd, aka Mean Girls Day.

I loved the simplicity  of the “start where you are” card from the September “Starlight” Studio Calico kit, but I felt like it needed a little something. I added some die cuts from Felicity Jane, and a bit of the gorgeous washi tape from the October “Gypsy Moon” Studio Calico kit. The alphas that I used are also from Felicity Jane.

I had three pictures from the baseball game that I wanted to use, so I displayed the picture of my friend and me and used the other two (that were long distance of players) for a flip pocket.

I don’t typically document sad events in my Project Life album. I know a lot of people do because it is meant to be documenting your life, the good and the bad, but I tend to be naturally a bit more on the pessimistic side so I try to keep my album as cheery and fun as possible. Still there have been events that I didn’t want to ignore so I’ve documented them in more subtle ways. I feel like this card from Feed Your Craft with the quote from J.K. Rowling is a good representation of the tragic events that have been occurring in the United States with the hurricanes and shooting in Las Vegas. I feel like it represents these hard times but also how we can grow together.

How are you documenting October so far? Do you document the good and the bad or keep your album focused on happy memories?

August Studio Calico Kit and Layout

IMG_6994

Its hard to believe August is here and that summer is winding down. Soon the crisp fall air will be rolling in, but first, we need to finish documenting our summer! When I scrapbook I tend to combine a lot of kits and collections and use whatever I like to make my layout come together. I decided to create a little challenge for myself to only use one kit to put together a layout. I received my August 2017 Studio Calico kit and immediately broke into it. Some of the cards and embellishments contain brighter more summery colors but I was drawn to the softer pinks and blacks and whites. I don’t do weekly Project Life layouts and instead just keep my months together. I had printed photos from the first couple weeks of the month and pulled out the photos that were a bit softer. This included a photo of details of a travelers notebook spread that I had played around with in the A Color Story app (kind of meta to scrapbook a scrapbook layout, Scrapception?), my new favorite sleep shirt that pays homage to napping, a corner of my room, and the day there was a beautiful rainbow in St. Louis (I was stuck in traffic snapping the photo).

I first pulled the cards I thought I might use. I knew I wanted to use the calendar card because I absolutely loved it!

These are the cards I pulled from the kit that I didn’t use. Aren’t they lovely?

I also loved the marble and pink card but I thought it needed some gold. The kit came with gold sequins so I decided to glue them along the card where the two sides met. The process was tedious but actually only took a few minutes.

IMG_6952

I scrap on my bed most of the time so I’ll pretty much use any flat surface (including my Happy Planner) as a tabletop.

I also wanted to use the stamp set that came in the kit for extra embellishment. The stamp seems to be travel focused but I made it work for my photos at home and around town. I stamped directly on the rainbow photo and I felt that the calendar card needed a little extra something so I added a stamp to the top of that card as well.

Stamp

The only extra item I added to the kit was the little label for journaling which was a stamp from a Kelly Purkey set. Overall I think I did pretty well with my challenge!
