Current Makeup Routine

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

When I started this blog, my intention was to share about all the things I enjoyed in my life. It has become more of a crafty blog to this point but I’m hoping to incorporate other types of posts as well, like this one. Today I wanted to share about something I’ve been a long time fan of, makeup, and how I do my current everyday makeup.

I start with foundation. I’ve been using the Cover Girl Outlast foundation for a while now. It gives great coverage and it really does last all day. The NYX Gotcha Covered concealer is pretty new to me, but I loved it from the first time I tried it. I feel like the combination of these products is the closest my skin has been to “flawless” in a long time. I finish it off with the L’oreal True Match powder (another old standby product for me). I like this powder because I feel like it does give a slight amount of coverage which you don’t always get in regular pressed powders.

If I’m going for bronzer I use the ELF bronzer. It actually comes with a blush as well, which is okay, but the bronzer is the gold star product here. Its matte and not too dark, which works well for contouring my pale skin. I put it where I think the hollows of my cheeks are (I have a very round face if you can’t tell), on my forehead, and a little on the sides of my nose. I also really like the Tarte 12 hour Amazonian Clay blushes. I’ve used a few shades in the past and the one I’m currently using is called Blushing Bride. Its a nice pink with a slight purple tone to it.

I love a good cat eye, and while I can’t say its really part of my “everyday” make up, I do wear it a lot on weekends and evenings. I’m using the Kat Von D tattoo liner right now, but I’m not totally loving it. Its supposed to be waterproof but I’ve had it smudge on me some. For right now, its what I have. I love the Cover Girl Total Tease mascara though. It makes me lashes really long, thick, and dark. Its great.

As far as lips go, I tend to rotate through a few different lip colors just depending on what I want that day. I really like NYX lip products because they work well and have a huge selection for a drug store brand. I also have been liking Tarte’s liquid lipstick in Cheerleader for a good red. And I do really love that Revlon lipstick as well, but the label is so small that I don’t know what its called! Its a really good purple-y pink (which you may have realized is a tone I like for my skin). And that’s it! It may sound like a like of products but I’ve got it to a pretty quick routine.

Until next time,

Yay Fun Scrapbook Layout

If you’ve seen much of my blog before you know I primarily scrapbook in a pocket page format. It was how I started documenting and it’s what usually comes easiest for me. Every once in a while I like to do a full page layout, and lately I’ve been drawn to this more and more. I think this is one of my favorites I’ve made, probably because I’m obsessed with the Carousel collection from Maggie Holmes and Crate Paper. This collection definitely grew on me. At first I wasn’t sure about it, as carnivals aren’t really my thing, but the more I looked at it, the more I fell in love with it. I’m planning a trip to Disney World in a few months and I’m definitely hoarding a lot of this collection to document the trip.

For this layout I started by layering my photo on white cardstock, then layering various pieces of patterned paper from the collection at an angle behind it. I chose the pinks and blues in the collection and cut everything to roughly 3×4 sized. I then started playing with bits and pieces from the ephemera pack and added these into my cluster. I finally added an aqua doily behind everything.

I knew I wanted to use that YAY ephemera piece as my title. I wanted to add something else to the layout so I decided to add some strips of the same patterned papers to the layout. At first I tried them at the bottom but it seemed to conflict too much with where I wanted to put my photo and title, so I decided to add the strips to the middle.

Finally I began to embellish. I used some of the Thickers from the Carousel collection and made the title “YAY fun”. I also used a few bits from my stash in order to add more gold into the layout. Last, some Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Sweet Mint for some splatters, a doodled border, and a little bit of journaling.
